Extra Foot Bones, What is it?



Is it superhuman to have an extra foot bone? No, it is nothing special, but you might have to worry about having an extra foot bone as it makes you feel pain. In fact, it is common around human beings. This extra foot bone is called accessory ossicle. However, you may also call it sesamoid. Do not get yourself wrong by assuming the normal sesamoid that all of us have under our big toe joint. One should be able to find accessory ossicle in an egg shape or circle shape. Moreover, it can lie under the toe joints, around the ankle and on sides or back of the foot. About 10 places are said to be the location of these extra bones. However, it is not usual and everyone does not have these. They get enlarged due to a whole number of reasons, not a single reason. They do not rise due to any of abnormal incentive. Consequently, in most of the cases, it is not necessary that these bones cause problems. It often is the reason behind pain, but it does not mean it causes all the pain. You should look for the location of the extra bone which is possibly the reason of pain. If an extra bone’s position is on tendon inside or outside the foot, then it might gradually cause pain to tendon and inflammation gets created.

The tendon is the main tissue which plays an important role. To treat it medically is simple. Nonetheless, preventing tendonitis and pain can help to treat it. However, if it occurs, then take the necessary steps that are used to reduce inflammation. Moreover, foot support and anti-inflammatory medications aid to stop feeling pain. In a nutshell, repair your tendon if it gets involved and you will remove the pain and prevent the bone to re-occur.
