Is
it superhuman to have an extra foot bone? No, it is nothing special,
but you might have to worry about having an extra foot bone as it
makes you feel pain. In fact, it is common around human beings. This
extra foot bone is called accessory ossicle. However, you may also
call it sesamoid. Do not get yourself wrong by assuming the normal
sesamoid that all of us have under our big toe joint. One should be
able to find accessory ossicle in an egg shape or circle shape.
Moreover, it can lie under the toe joints, around the ankle and on
sides or back of the foot. About 10 places are said to be the
location of these extra bones. However, it is not usual and everyone
does not have these. They get enlarged due to a whole number of
reasons, not a single reason. They do not rise due to any of abnormal
incentive. Consequently, in most of the cases, it is not necessary
that these bones cause problems. It often is the reason behind pain,
but it does not mean it causes all the pain. You should look for the
location of the extra bone which is possibly the reason of pain. If
an extra bone’s position is on tendon inside or outside the foot,
then it might gradually cause pain to tendon and inflammation gets
created.
The
tendon is the main tissue which plays an important role. To treat it
medically is simple. Nonetheless, preventing tendonitis and pain can
help to treat it. However, if it occurs, then take the necessary
steps that are used to reduce inflammation. Moreover, foot support
and anti-inflammatory medications aid to stop feeling pain. In a
nutshell, repair your tendon if it gets involved and you will remove
the pain and prevent the bone to re-occur.
